Why do parents choose a KTM eDRIVe electric balance bike as their child's first off-road option?
- A KTM 12 eDRIVE weighs as little as 17 pounds, as opposed to over 100 pounds for a typical 50cc dirt bike. Instead of weighing more than twice as much as your child; your child likely weighs twice as much as the KTM electric bikes.
- A child with an inseam as small as 14 inches (35cm) is actually optimally sized for the smallest KTM eDRIVE bike, and with an adjustable seat, there's a level of flexibility you won't find on a dirt bike.
- You have total throttle control because there are three modes. KTM made the modes easy enough for a parent to configure, yet challenging enough so a young child can't move out of the training mode and into the advanced mode before they're ready.
- You don't need a gas can, they charge quickly, they're customizable, and the twist throttle prepares your little rider for a future on of riding KTM's SX lineup. Just learning? You don't need to supply any power at all – just work on balance.
But you want more details, so check out this video of CAST's own Caleb Guindon explaining the different models, how to adjust the throttle programming, and the customizing options. And don't forget: always gear up your kids properly. Check out CAST's recent videos on youth MX gear here.
