Honda is the world's biggest engine manufacturer and the planet's best-selling brand of motorcycles. In the spring of 2023, the world's best-selling motorcycle brand will deliver two of the world's most famous motorcycle nameplates to Canada: the Trail125 and the XR150L.

Highlights for both bikes are listed below, but key among them is Honda's ability to deliver legendary bikes at affordable prices. These aren't exceptions to the rule, either: the Trail125 and XR150L join a huge fleet of ridiculously affordable street-legal motorcycles. Honda's all-in pricing (MSRP plus freight/PDI) for the minimoto lineup includes the $2,952 Honda Navi, $3,842 Honda Giorno, the $4,242 Honda Ruckus, $4,617 Honda Grom, and $6,067 Honda Monkey. Don't forget the $7,087 Honda CB300R, $7,137 Honda Rebel 300, and $7,462 Honda CRF300L. Meanwhile, the Rebel 500, CBR500R, CB500F, CB500X, and CRF300L Rally are all sub-$10K bikes, too.

And now Honda adds the $5,639 2023 Trail125 and $4,589 2023 XR150L.

2023 HONDA TRAIL125 ABS

As the sixth member of Honda's minimoto family, the Trail125 is yet another distinct offering. While the Giorno is a classic fully automatic scooter and the Ruckus adds uniquely rugged scooter appeal, the Navi offers scooter-like dynamics with a motorcycle body and greater power. The Grom and Monkey, meanwhile, are performance-oriented urban motorcycles, one with obvious sport-bike posture and the other with classic Honda design. The Trail125 is another animal altogether. There's a four-speed shifter, but a fully automatic clutch. (The Giorno, Ruckus, and Navi are fully automatic and require no shifting; the Grom and Monkey operate with a foot-shifter and clutch.) It's been 62 years since the original 1961 Trail 50 was unveiled.

What else makes the Trail125 unique?

  • The Trail125 is intended to be used, well, everywhere, so Honda elevates the exhaust and intake for better clearance.
  • There's a 125cc fuel-injected engine with great power and unbelievable fuel economy.
  • The Trail's heel-toe shifter makes it easy to shift even with bulky boots.
  • Yes, there's a kickstart lever just like the Trail 90 and Trail 110 before it. But you can also turn the key and push a button to start the Trail125.
  • With one look you can see the Trail125 has a different shape. That step-through chassis is a reinforced steel backbone – it also enhances ground clearance.
  • The Trail125 centerstand makes it even easier to park the bike in tight quarters. It makes DIY maintenance easier, too.
  • Yeah, it's affordable. But Honda didn't skimp. The Trail125 includes anti-lock brakes.
  • The Trail125 runs a 38-tooth rear sprocket. What's that mean? That means this Honda is geared for the trail - it's just not in the name.
  • There are more features, including LED lighting, 17-inch wire-spoke wheels, a skid plate, speedometer/odometer/A&B trip meters, fuel gauge, clock.
  • Oh, and there's a cargo rack. On the Trail125, you're going places. Load'er up!

2023 HONDA XR150L

Honda's dual-sport and adventure lineup is growing yet again. From the Africa Twin at the top of the heap to the CRF450RL, CRF300L, CRF300L Rally, and now the return of the iconic XR nameplate, Honda has every base covered. The XR150L brings greater affordability to the mix, but don't confuse that affordability with a lack of capability. "Not only is this bike perfect for those purchasing their first motorcycle," says Honda Canada's VP for powersports and power equipment, Ryan Kelly," but it's a great option for those looking for an additional bike for themselves or their family."

  • 33-inch seat height makes the XR150L far more accessible for a wider range of riders.
  • With prototypical Honda fuel efficiency, the 150cc is expected to offer impressive range, made all the better by a huge 12-litre fuel tank.
  • 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear are perfectly set up for real trail riding
  • Standard luggage rack is key for the XR traveller. Load'er up!
  • The 149cc engine is a lively piece of kit, plus it's designed for low maintenance.
  • Just like the Trail125, the XR150L is fully street legal, but it's ready to leave the pavement behind, as well.
  • There's a traditional 5-speed gearbox: clutch in the left hand; shifter at the left foot.
  • Did we mention that the XR150L is only $4,589, including freight and PDI?

We expect arrivals of both the Trail125 and XR150L to begin at Centennial Auto-Sport & Tire in April.
