Cash For Quads' First Birthday Is Today, And We Still Want To Buy Your ATV Today

One year ago, on September 16, 2020, we launched Cash For Quads. 

The sequence of events that led to the creation of Cash For Quads is a lengthy one. It started with the onset of a pandemic. After business slowed to a crawl across almost all industries for a few weeks, Islanders quickly discovered that there was nowhere they'd rather be than Prince Edward Island. More specifically, Islanders discovered in the spring, summer, and fall of 2020 that there was nowhere they'd rather be than outside in Prince Edward Island. The market for off-road vehicles exploded.

That's great news, right? It most definitely was. We love to see more ATVs on the trails, which means more trail passes are being sold, more potential volunteers are finding roles to fill within PEI's ATV clubs, and more friends-of-new-ATV-owners are discovering that they should have a new ATV, as well. Unfortunately, with temporary factory shutdowns, unforeseen shipping complications, and constantly evolving parts shortages, it quickly became very difficult for us to acquire new ATVs from our brands: Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki.

On September 16, 2020, we turned to you, the owner of a current ATV. "Pay attention," Rob Compton said one year ago today, "We are paying cash for used ATVs."

The challenges we faced in terms of stocking new ATVs created a perfect storm for owners of ATVs who were:

  • not using their ATV as much as they thought they would;
  • in possession of too many ATVs;
  • interested in upgrading;
  • thinking of switching to a different power sports activity;
  • faced with lifestyle changes that forced a change;
  • or simply interested in taking advantage of an unanticipated shift in market forces.

We weren't sure what to expect. In conjunction with the video, we opened up an online form where ATV owners could submit pictures and info. Our first Cash For Quads customer was, in fact, in possession of too many ATVs. The same day he initiated the potential sale, he received his money, and we quickly listed and re-homed his ATV.

Over the course of the last 12 months, we've successfully purchased and re-homed dozens of ATVs. But it's not nearly enough. There's a virtually unlimited supply of pre-owned ATV buyers, but there's a remarkably limited supply of pre-owned ATVs in our showrooms. 

We want more. And we have the buying power to purchase far more pre-owned ATVs from owners. As Rob Compton explained in countless videos since last September, there's no shortage of reasons for you to deal with Centennial Auto-Sport And Tire rather than listing on the open market.

  • We won't beat around the bush, kicking tires and sending hundreds of messages asking, "Is this still available?"
  • We won't ask if you'll be home at 8PM and then fail to show.

  • We'll deal with the reconditioning and detailing.
