Week By Week, PEI ATV Federation's Trail System Is Improving - October 2018 Update
Prince Edward Island's hottest tourist season may have just ended, but prime riding season is only now getting into full swing. Temperatures have cooled off, the dust is settling, and the fall foliage is putting on an autumn show.
In late 2018, prime riding season also involves far more riding possibilities than just a few months ago, and certainly more than a year or two ago. With a goal of connecting all five Island ATV clubs with tip-to-tip trails in the next five years, volunteers are making rapid progress through landowner negotiations, trailblazing, trail improvements, and trail maintenance.
Some of the recent and upcoming October work includes new bridge installations on Red Isle ATV Club trails heading to Oyster Bed Bridge. There's also new mulching on the Evangeline ATV Club's Miscouche trail, smoothing the way for easier access. Evangeline will also be adding extensive route signage through the Richmond/Tyne Valley/Enmore trail system in October.
The Kinkora-Searletown stretch of the East Prince Quad Trax club is undergoing clearing, levelling, and stump removal in early October. Meanwhile, with more work soon to be done, the Monaghan Farms/Summerfield trails should reopen at some point during the fall of 2018.
What's next? Follow PEI ATV Federation News on Facebook, join your local club's Facebook page, and volunteer with scheduled trail construction sessions.
2019 PEI ATV Federation trail passes will be available in mid-to-late October, but 2018's not over yet. It's time to get out on PEI's rapidly improving trail system.
