WE TAKE PART IN A BRIDGE BUILD TO LEARN MORE ABOUT PEI ATV FEDERATION TRAIL EXPANSION
With at least 200 man hours invested, a bridge across one of Monaghan Farms' creeks was completed on Sunday, October 19, 2018. It's the result of a massive volunteer effort on the part of PEI's Quad Trax ATV Club, from scouting the land and raising funds to gathering insurance and permits, acquiring materials, and coordinating work parties to take part in the labour-intensive process of actually building a bridge that stretches 140 feet across wetlands near Summerfield.
A few members of the Centennial Auto Group team joined the work crew on Saturday morning with a mission to collect rocks that would later be used to prevent riverbank erosion and then to begin laying planks on the north side of the bridge. To get a full idea of everything that's entailed in expanding the trail network in an environmentally sensitive area, we spoke with Peter Mellish, a Quad Trax member and the president of the PEI ATV Federation.
